Escher = MC WHAT!!  1.3

A variation on E = MC WHAT!! by Bungie.

3+ players. The more, the merrier. This map can accomodate a _lot_ of people.

Original concept: Take your basic, boring 3-D net level, expand it a bit, add some really trippy 5-D spaces, and viola! One of the best 5-D netmaps to date.

No secrets, just a bunch of 5-D stariways and passages (check out the central pillar) on the main 4x4 grid, with a elevated ring around. Three routes to get up to the outer ring, many, many ways to get down.

Each of the ways up involves jumping from one ledge to another- partly for the visual effect (flying through space over dogfights in progress is a blast, and much more fun than running through darkened hallways), partly to give your buddies a chance to spank you with a missile (or at least a chance to see you coming), and partly to encourage unusual ways to get around- during testing, people began jumping from the outer ring down to the switches, and leaping to the jump-points as a way to sneak up on someone. At least once, I surprised someone (to death) by using a 5-D passage to get right up close before he noticed.

All weapons, no aliens, 120 or so polygons (I'm not nearly done with it), and a lot of fun.

Thanks to Richard Cowgill (Iggy Popped) for helping me test it out (he's the guy in the movie), Creator of Optical State, at http://www.wolfe.net/~optica/

Tested on a Centris 610 (040), 6100 (PPC601/NuBus), and 7200 (PPC601/PCI). No crashes.

Known Bugs: Two of the three stairays won't let you go down. Reason why unknown, but it does not impair the map in any way, nor does it crash the machine, or throw netgames out of sync, so I'm not killing myself trying to fix it.

Changes since 1.2
MA-75 ammunition increased
Grenade ammo increased
Monsters:
2 major compilers (maximum, appears randomly)
1 invisible compiler (maximum, appears randomly and infrequently)

Just remember, if the Compilers give you too much trouble, you can always turn the aliens off in the netgames- and well, there's not much point of playing this level solo... =)
